Your mission

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and maintain the top-level aircraft system architecture, ensuring cohesive integration of all subsystems.
  • Perform functional decomposition of aircraft systems including avionics, propulsion, guidance & control, and payload integration.
  • Develop and manage top-level system requirements with full traceability to subsystems and mission objectives.
  • Provide oversight of Verification & Validation planning and execution, ensuring system-level requirements are verified and validated according to industry standards.
  • Lead interface management between mechanical, avionics, software, and payload subsystems.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for UAV platforms, including SC Light UAS and other applicable standards.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, testing, and operations teams to ensure compliance requirements across the UAV development lifecycle.
  • Guide and mentor junior system engineers, fostering a strong systems engineering culture.
  • Maintain and update system engineering artifacts, including architecture models, interface control documents, requirement specifications, and design rationale.
  • Participate in risk assessment, safety analysis, and airworthiness activities, ensuring robust and compliant system design.

  • Compliance according to ANAVIA’ employment contract, compliance with company’ safety instructions and employee’ safety requirements, compliance with employers’ quality manual, work instructions and corresponding process specifications and instructions.
  • International travel requires up to 25% of employee’ working hours.
 

Your profile

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Systems, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in aerospace or UAV systems engineering, with strong exposure to system architecture, requirements management, and V&V. Proven track record in leading system engineering teams and defining aircraft system architecture.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, including SC Light UAS and CS-27. Experience in requirements management tools (DOORS, Jama, Polarion, or equivalent). Familiarity with systems engineering standards (INCOSE, ISO 15288, ARP4754A).
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of Verification & Validation planning, testing, and integration.
  • High analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Ability to balance technical rigor with practical engineering constraints.
  • Strong attention to detail and capability to produce clear, high-quality technical documentation. Proactive mindset with the ability to drive system-level decisions and identify technical risks early.
  • Communication: Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to interact effectively with cross-functional teams and regulators.
  • Language: Proficiency in English (oral and written). German desirable.
  • Eligibility: Swiss or EU citizens only.
  • Location: On-site in Näfels | Bilten, Switzerland.
